Bull’s-eye = 5pts
1st Ring = 4pts
2nd Ring = 3pts
3rd Ring = 2pts
4th Ring = 1pt
The highest scoring ring that the axe blade cuts will be the score for the throw. All scoring will be determined by the Competition Judge.

Single Buck, Double Buck and Jack & Jill Bucking:
Competitors will be allowed to start the saw in the log before timing begins to a depth determined by the Competition Judge. Time will start when the Competition Judge says go and will end when the disc is completely severed. If the competitor(s) “cuts out” and the disc is not complete, the competitor(s) will not be given a time.

Standing Block Chop:
Competitors will draw for their block and will be allowed to peel the bark from their block and place it in a stand and do any marking they wish to do before the event begins. It is the competitor’s responsibility to take reasonable measures to keep the block from slabbing off the ends (nails or heavy rubber bands.) If nothing is done to prevent slabbing, and the block slabs off the end, the competitor will not receive a time. The first hit with the axe must be with an upward swing. Time will start when the Competition Judge says “GO” and will stop when the block is completely severed.

Underhand Chopping:
Competitors will draw for their block and will be allowed to peel the bark from their block, place it in the cradle and do any marking they wish to do before the event begins. Competitors will be allowed to cut foot holds in each end of the block. It is the competitor’s responsibility to take reasonable measures to keep the block from slabbing off the ends (nails or heavy rubber bands.) If nothing is done to prevent slabbing, and the block slabs off the end, the competitor will not receive a time. Time will start when the Competition Judge says “GO” and will stop when the block is completely severed. Foot Protection is required to compete in this event (we recommend chainmail sox).

STIHL Stock Saw:
Saws provided by Rocky Mountain Supply. Competitors will start with both hands on the log and the saw running on the ground. When the Competition Judge says “GO”, time will start and the competitor will start the saw and make two (2) cuts (up then down or vice versa) in a 4 in area. Time will end when the last disc is severed. No time will be given to a competitor that cuts more than 4 inches or “cuts out” before a disc is completely severed.

0-60cc Chainsaw:
Saws up to 60cc’s may be used in this event. Saws must be stock appearing (no pipes). The competitor will start with both hands on the log with the saw not running on the ground- a “cold start”. Time will end when the last disc is severed. No time will be given to a competitor that cuts more than 4 inches or “cuts out” before a disc is completely severed. Pump Gas Only.

This event is a “run what ya brung”. The only limitations to the Hot Saw event are that the Hot Saw is a single cylinder pull start and the competitor must be able to start pick up their saw unassisted. The competitor will start with both hands on the log with the saw not running on the ground- a “cold start”. When the Competition Judge says “GO”, time will start and the competitor will start the saw and make three (3) cuts (down, up, down) in a 6 in area. Time will end when the last disc is severed.
